Overview
This Privacy Policy describes how Boolton ("Boolton," "we," "us") collects, uses, and shares information about visitors to boolton.com. Boolton is an editorial website published by VCA Groupe, an independent small business. This policy applies to information collected through the site and through email correspondence sent to addresses at the boolton.com domain.
We've tried to write this policy in plain language. The goal is to be honest and specific about what we collect, why we collect it, and what readers can do about it. If anything here is unclear, please email us at hello@boolton.com and we'll explain.
Information we collect
Information you provide directly
If you email us at any boolton.com address, we receive whatever you put in the message: your email address, your name (if your email client provides it), and the contents of the message and any attachments. We use this only to respond to your message and to maintain a record of correspondence for operational reasons.
We do not currently offer accounts, subscriptions, or comment systems on the site. If we add those in the future, this policy will be updated to describe what information they collect.
Information collected automatically
When you visit boolton.com, certain information is collected automatically by our hosting and analytics providers:
- Server logs, which typically include your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, the referring URL, the URL you requested, and the timestamp of the request. Logs are retained for a limited period (typically 30 to 90 days) and used to operate the site, diagnose technical problems, and detect abuse.
- Cookies and similar technologies, described in more detail below.
- Analytics data, collected via Vercel Web Analytics (a cookieless, first-party analytics product provided by our hosting provider) and, where enabled, via Google Analytics 4. Both providers receive aggregated information about how visitors interact with the site — pages viewed, approximate location at country level, referral source, and similar — used to understand which content is useful and how to improve it.
How we use information
We use the information we collect to:
- Operate the site, including serving pages, applying styles, and enabling features like page-to-page transitions.
- Respond to messages we receive at boolton.com addresses.
- Understand how the site is used in aggregate, through analytics, so we can improve the editorial product.
- Detect, prevent, and investigate abuse, fraud, and security incidents.
- Serve advertising, where applicable, through the advertising networks described below.
We do not sell personal information to data brokers. We do not use the information we collect to build personal profiles about individual readers for marketing purposes outside of standard advertising network behavior (which is described in the AdSense disclosure below).
Cookies and tracking technologies
A cookie is a small text file that a website places on your device to remember information between visits. Boolton and the third-party services it uses set the following kinds of cookies:
- Essential cookies, used for things like remembering your view-transition state as you navigate between pages. These are set by Boolton directly.
- Analytics cookies, set by Google Analytics 4 to measure how visitors use the site. These are first-party cookies set on the boolton.com domain.
- Advertising cookies, set by Google AdSense and related Google advertising services. These are described in the AdSense disclosure below and include the DoubleClick cookie.
You can disable cookies through your browser settings, though doing so may affect how the site functions. You can also opt out of personalized advertising specifically without disabling all cookies, using the controls described in the next section.
Google AdSense disclosure
Boolton uses Google AdSense, an advertising service provided by Google LLC, to display advertisements on the site.
Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on Boolton. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to readers based on their visits to Boolton and other sites on the Internet. Among the cookies Google uses for this purpose is the DoubleClick cookie (also called the DoubleClick DART cookie), which Google places on devices that visit sites running AdSense or other Google advertising services.
You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings. You may also opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting aboutads.info. More information about how Google uses cookies in advertising is available at Google's advertising privacy policies.
Boolton does not control which specific ads Google serves to any individual reader, and ad placement does not influence our editorial decisions.
Third-party services we use
Boolton relies on a small number of third-party services to operate the site. Each of these services has its own privacy policy governing how it handles information; we encourage readers to review them.
- Vercel — hosting, edge content delivery (with basic request logging), and Vercel Web Analytics (cookieless, first-party page-view analytics).
- Google Analytics 4 — additional audience measurement and site usage analytics (where enabled).
- Google AdSense — display advertising.
- Cloudflare or similar — DNS, network security, and bot mitigation.
We choose providers we believe are reputable and that publish their own privacy practices, but we don't independently audit them.

Data retention
We retain server logs for a limited operational period, typically 30 to 90 days. Analytics data is retained according to the default settings of Google Analytics 4, currently 14 months. Email correspondence is retained as long as it remains operationally useful, after which it is deleted. Where we are required to retain information longer to comply with legal obligations, we will do so only for as long as the obligation requires.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example to reflect new services we use, changes in applicable law, or improvements to our practices. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates the date of the most recent change. Material changes will be flagged on the site for a reasonable period.
